Brolly
So many colours -
I could twirl you round
with glee and
fly, like Mary Poppins.
'Milder', I said to my friend
'No it isn't', she said,
'The winds were so high,
my brolly took flight
and me with it !’

Does God have a Sense of Humour?
Now, where do I start..
I'll put a bit of light here
then add some dark.
I'll paint the sky
and green and brown for earth.
Loads of deep, wet sea
waving, flowering, fruiting plants
then shimmering stars, moon and sun.
Lots of swimming, gawping fish
and stately, beautiful birds.
Animals, getting better!
Hippopotami, Ladybirds, Elephants, Butterflies,
Wood-lice : that will fool them!
Life is getting tougher,
let's have a go at man -
Beautiful, Helpless, Dynamic!
Now, I am ready for my Finale.
I will make a woman –
at last - I have hit perfection
and can put my feet up!

Flotsam and Jetsam
‘All cluttered up’, said my friend,
‘there is so much junk on my computer,
it’s so slow, I’ll have to sort it out’.
I could well imagine icons galore on her screen,
CD’s with 50,000 images,
why ever did she buy those?
Junk emails from all over the world.
It’s the same with address books, ‘phone memory lists;
I look at mine from time to time
and think, ‘We haven’t spoken for ages, best clear that out’
and ‘Oh dear, there’s ill feeling there’
but ‘Oooh, I need to keep this one, because…….!’
And then there’s paperwork,
some of us are very good at keeping that under control,
others not so … it seems to fly all over every room.
And relationships -
‘now why did I take up with him?’
‘why did I give her my phone no, she never stops talking!’
‘oooh I want to know this one more…’
so this also has to be reviewed from time to time.
There are some very clever, disciplined people
for whom flotsam and jetsam are never a problem,
but for some, maybe a quick look round will prove
that work is needed to clear a space
… ready for the next pile-up!

I’m Not Sure Where to Putt this One?
I started well at the first hole,
but at the second, began to shirk.
At the third, I threw one ball at a pole
because my first putt didn’t work.
At the fifth I was beginning to swear …
so moved swiftly to the sixth!
The seventh went up in the air
and landed in a bunker at the eighth.
The ninth gave me inspiration,
the tenth even more, saw a butterfly!
I knew with more patience,
my stroke would improve so highly,
that when I reached the thirteenth,
I would break all the rules
and end on a high at the fifteenth!
